Don't agree. No problem to have one player on a season long loan, it's just one player. Even clubs lime Madrid and Man Utd are doing it. We can commit to buying a RB when we no longer have him and can now spend the surplus elsewhere in the side.

I agree. In a way it's not completely dissimilar to renting a house or buying one. All the time we rent or loan Jenks we are never going to be committed to buying a right back. Love to buy Jenks though.

Agreed. But unless we find someone at least as good to sign, Jenkinson is by far the best option.

Although I like Jenkinson, I'd much prefer to buy our own player.
I wouldn't mind us buying Jenkinson. But if that's not possible, paying a loan fee for a player and filling that position with a Gooner for two seasons running grates with me.

I was really impressed by that Guerrero ( striker ) for Peru tonight , he did a couple of sublime turns that totally bamboozled his marker .

This rumour has been doing the rounds since the start of the Copa America. Having watched him play week in, week out for Juan Aurich a couple of years ago (before he joined one of the big clubs in Lima) and watching play in the Copa I have to say he's vastly improved. He's extremely fast, good tackler, crosses well, and unlike most of the SA players I've seen, he has a good attitude - doesn't get involved in the handbags stuff and doesn't let his head drop. I'd be surprised if we get him, not because of the paperwork but he's had such a good CA that I'm sure someone else will be in for him. As for tonight's game, I thought Peru were the better team at 11 v 11, didn't agree with the red, questionable first goal, blinding second (although the keeper got a bit lost) and Peru deserved to go to penalties. There's been no extra-time played in this competition, games going straight to pens after 90 mins. And if anyone wants to know, I've become partial to 'pollo a la brasa' flavoured crisps.

For some reason it is what successive England managers have done for years. Domestically the most successful teams have been those that play at high tempo and relatively physically but when it comes to internationals we seem t want to play a more continental slow build-up game at which we have far inferior technique.

Watched him tonight against Chile and thought he had a really good game. He's one of the quickest defenders I've ever seen plus he can cross a ball, created 2 great chances and one ended up with a goal via an OG from Medel (think it was).
If we can get him for £1m or so he'd be well worth the punt IMO.
BTW Vargas who was on loan at QPR last year scored an absolute cracker

The other team were terrible Burnsey (fuck knows how they made the quarters), though I'd be lying if I said that I even remembered to specifically watch this bloke.
What with that and the Caribbean cricket on my tablet, was a decent nights sport until 3am.
Would explain why I'm fucked now though.

Peru are playing tonight, so no doubt we'll all be staying up until 3am to watch the new boy in action.

can we not pretend he's signing for a top 4 side and then the permit will be ok?

He won't get a work permit (as Peru are outside the top 50) without going through the "special talent" hearing. Not sure that his position as a potential reserve right back would get that won!
